Cristiano Ronaldo Leads Manchester United to Victory Against Villarreal

Cristiano Ronaldo marked his record-breaking 178th Champions League appearance at a recent face-off between Manchester United and Villarreal, but that wasn’t the only thing that made this match epic. The Portuguese player led the Red Devils to another victory with an epic last-minute goal. Ronaldo scored an injury-time winner for United 95 minutes into the game, but this wasn’t the only goal of the match. Before he saved the day for the Red Devils, the score was even after Manchester’s Alex Telles and Villarreal’s Paco Alcácer scored goals for their respective teams. Ronaldo said that the game was “a little bit of a struggle” while discussing it with reporters and revealed they felt nervous throughout. He also admitted the Red Devils had a little bit of luck going into the game this time around, but eventually managed to score the victory thanks to a great attitude from the players. Pushing his team to another victory wasn’t the only thing that made this match special for Ronaldo. This also marks his 178th appearance in the Champions League, setting a new record for this competition. He managed to surpass his former Real Madrid teammate Iker Casillas, and also cemented his status as the record scorer in the Champions League, taking his total goal tally to 136 on Wednesday.
